Frequently asked questions.

Why BIPOC Adults?

That Art Party awakens the inner child for adults of color. For those of us who have experienced adultification &/ parentification, healing our inner child offers a healthy and holistic way of being. For BIPOC folx specifically, we so often exist under the acute pressures of white supremacy that we disconnect from our most authentic self out of a need for survival. Affinity space are an antidote. For me, they offer space to breathe more fully, to reconnect with the self, and honor one’s intuition. Affinity spaces can also be an opportunity to create safe space, and build coalition across communities of color. That Art Party honors and celebrates the inner artist, maker, and creative inside all BIPOC adults without the pressure to perform, produce, or perfect.

Do you host professional development &/ team building?

Yes! We love to bring art and play to work. These sessions include an additional grounding in the research supporting the benefits of art and play on the mental and emotional health of adults. All participants also leave with resources for continued play and personalized commitments to continue art & play at work. Private parties are open to all adults.

What is a play date?

A play date typically refers to when caring adults/parents arrange for their young ones/kids to hang out and play with other kids. Except, here at That Art Party, play dates refer to that social time for BIPOC adults to connect with their own inner child, hang out and play with our friends. No pressure to master technique, just play!

Do all play dates include food and drinks?

Yes! We do our best to make sure all food and drinks are sourced from local BIPOC owned business. Adult beverages are included, and we try to accommodate dietary restrictions where possible.

Do you work with kids?

No. That Art Party is an adult sanctuary. As joyful and creative as young ones can be, this space is designed specifically for adults. Adults deserve time to nourish our own inner child. Often times, the presence of children can cause adults to enter caretaking habits. Any That Art Party event wants to you to pour all that care into your own well.

Do you collaborate with BIPOC artists, creatives, or entrepreneurs?

Yes! Collabs are genius, and I would LOVE to create together. Feel free to email or fill out the contact form so we can connect.

Where are you located?

We are based in the Bay Area, and we are mobile! We also offer virtual play dates! Venue and pop-up locations are in the works. Make sure to sign up for that Spark! and follow for updates.

Do you accept refunds?

Unfortunately, we do not accept refunds. However, we do allow for exchanges. We get that life happens. If you are unable to make a purchased play date, please email us as soon as possible. We will honor your ticket at another That Art Party date.
